Happy New Year!

How are you celebrating the New Year? We are going to have a bbq and a few drinks at a friend's house, with a group of our close friends. The kids will be camping out in the lounge, and are very excited!

We are looking forward to 2012 being a great year. I can't wait to see what is in store for us as a family, and watch all of us grow, together and individually.

I haven't set any goals for 2012 yet, but will be sitting down in the next couple of days, and creating a bucket list for 2012, and a few goals.

Olay Total Effects Day Cream..... A review

Olay Total Effects; 7 in one; Sensitive Day Cream review.

This new product from Olay is designed to protect, calm and strengthen your skin to achieve maximum anti-ageing benefits while also addressing the needs of sensitive skin.

It has a SPF of 15, which in NZ is a must. I always use a moisturiser with an SPF of 15 along with  a sunscreen with an SPF of 60 daily, in all four seasons.

I found this moisturiser to be a lot more matte than the Olay Complete moisturiser that I usually use. My skin is combination, and a little sensitive. I have been using this moisturiser since it arrived on my door step on December 23rd, but I wont be using it any further, as it didn't make my skin feel smooth to touch, or improve my skin texture visibly. I did like the fact that it had a pump, and would quite like it if Olay put these on all their products!

Thanks Olay for the opportunity to try your new product!

Pantene Pro-V Aqua Light..... A review

Pantene Pro-V have brought out a new shampoo and conditioner; Aqua Light, with zero residue and zero weight.

This shampoo and conditioner is aimed at woman (men too!) with fine hair, who find their hair weighted down easily with other products, making their hair look flat. This shampoo and conditioner will leave your hair looking shiny, clean and bouncy.

I have been using both the shampoo and conditioner since they arrived on my door step on 23rd of December, I will definitely carry on using them. My hair is much healthier looking, shiny, and bouncy, like they promised! I have always had trouble finding great shampoo and conditioners, but now I have found something that works really well for my hair! If you have fine hair, I can recommend these, so go and try them!

Thanks to Pantene Pro-V for giving me the opportunity to try your new products!

New Just Juice Orchard Fruits..... A review

Just Juice have brought out a new range of juices, and I was lucky enough to get sent a sample to review.

These 3 juices are made from 100% juice, have no added sugar, no artificial colours or flavours, and have no preservatives.

The Sun Kissed Orange was the favourite in this house, with a simple, sweet taste, it is like you are drinking orange juice you have just squeezed! We will definitely be buying this in the groceries!

Farm Style Apple was the second favourite, with a crisp apple flavour, and a tang like real apple juice should have!

The Summer Strawberry and Kiwifruit was not so popular in our house, with it being a bit too sweet. But I would love to use it when making cocktails, I think it would be perfect for that, and I will definitely be buying it in the future for cocktails night!

Thanks Just Juice for the opportunity to sample your new juice, this household will be buying them for sure!

Christmas wrap up.....

Christmas is over, and my house is overrun with new toys and copious amounts of chocolate and biscuits!

We had 3 Christmas celebrations this year, our first with my Mother and Step Father in law. Then we went and stayed a couple of nights with my parents. And on Christmas day, the plan was for all of us to go to my Father and Step Mother in law's place for the day.
Well that plan didn't work out because I was sick. So I stayed home, while the kids and the Mr went on with our original plan! They didn't leave here until 12pm, so after they left, I relaxed, watched Something Borrowed, and read my book, amongst going through boxes of tissues and taking Neurofen and Panadol every few hours!

I was sad not to have lunch with the kids, and catch up with our extended family, but thought to myself, at least I am here, and able to see my children celebrate Christmas, unlike the beautiful, inspirational, Natalie. She was one amazing woman, who has inspired women all around New Zealand. Love and thoughts to Greg, Jackson, and all of Natalie's family and friends.

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas, full of love, laughter and happiness! Now onto the New Year, here's to a brilliant 2012!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas is here!

The children are tucked up in bed, they put milk and cookies out for Santa, and carrots and water for the reindeer. Santa and the reindeer have been and gone. They have left stockings, presents, foot prints, and crumbs! I cannot wait to see the faces of Mr 5 and Miss 3 in a few hours!

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas, full of love, laughter and happiness. Travel safe on the roads if you are going anywhere!

School's out for summer......

Class Christmas cards with lollipops have been handed out, homemade teacher's gifts have been made and given to wonderful teachers, Christmas decorations and all works of art have been sent home, and the uniform is in the back of the wardrobe for the next 6 weeks!

And now we are all sick. The whole house is coughing. the tissues are running low, the DVD player has been running non stop, and dinner has consisted of spaghetti on toast! Fingers crossed we'll all kick this bug before next week! Oh and it's raining and cold - it's meant to be summer!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Theodore the bear.....

Theodore the preschool bear came to stay at our place this weekend.

He played outside with the kids...

He joined in our family game and movie night...

He got pizza and chips for dinner, and then cake and watermelon for dessert...

He got to sleep with Miss Muffet on Friday night, and then in the doll bed on Saturday...

This morning, he spent lots of time playing My Little Ponies with Miss Muffet...

Miss Muffet has written a story about Theodore's weekend with us, and can't wait to share it will all her friends tomorrow.

Happy Sunday, have a brilliant week!

Friday tid bits.....

Little Miss and I had a quick browse in the op shop this morning, and found these gems, along with knuckle bones, Uno Stacko and another couple of games, tomorrow night is family games night, can't wait!

Keep Calm and Carry On..... This is my mantra in the lead up to Christmas! Love my new sign - scored off Trade Me!

End of year equals lots of art and school work coming home, I love seeing the joy on his face when he tells me about his pictures and art. He loves drawing, just like his Uncle C.

Summer is here! The jandals are out - complete with tan lines on our feet, the pineapples and strawberries are in full force, and the sunscreen is being used liberally!

This tea cup sits in my kitchen, my Nana used it when she came to stay with us, she loved fine china. It's been 2 months since she left us, and I can't stop looking at her tea cup, and thinking that I should write out her Christmas card and send her present off. Her present is sitting in the cupboard.... where it will stay :-(

Theodore the preschool bear is home with us for the weekend! We get to write a story about his adventures when he goes back to preschool on Monday with Little Miss.

Christmas angel, Christmas teddies ready for a craft project, our wee Christmas table centre piece and the cards have started to arrive! Mine are sitting on the bench, filled out, waiting to be posted!

The scene I found in Mr 5's room when going to check on him earlier on tonight...

Have a brilliant weekend!

Since having children, I've had to let go my OCD tendencies when it comes to Christmas decorating, but seeing the smiles on their faces, and hearing their laughter as they create wonderful memories, overrides the OCD by far!

Having traditions like decorating the tree as a family, planting jelly beans that turn into jelly bean candy canes, making reindeer food, leaving cookies and milk out for Santa, etc, make Christmas magic for our children. I want my children to grow up, and remember the magic of Christmas, and carry that on with their own families.

Happy hump day!

Dear Santa.....

He would like a scooter, two remote control helicopters, Lego, and Transformers! Lets hope Santa reads all his mail!

It's December.....

And the Christmas madness has started! We went to the Santa Parade last Sunday, the kids missed Santa the first time round, but they loved seeing the floats, the cars, the cheer leaders and marching girls, getting lollies, getting autographs from rugby players, playing with friends, and exploring our beautiful wee town in all it's festiveness!

Visitng Nana's.....

Last weekend, we went on a wee road trip to visit Nana, the kids had a brilliant time.
They love seeing all the animals and having fun mucking around the section and nursery.
I love seeing their smiles when they get to feed the ducks and chickens, play with the dogs, swing on their special swings, play spot the goldfish in the ponds, and pick out vege plants to bring home and grow.

Back online, yay!

Our computer died, it was 6 years old, which I guess is ancient in techno land! Have now got one brand spanking new lap top, it's quite exciting. Although a little frustrating trying to find something, in a totally different layout.

We have been busy with end of year functions, school activities, and hanging out with family and friends amongst all the boring domestic chores! And last week I made a birthday cake for a close family friend, who was turning 80! I also made rainbow cake a few weeks ago, still needs fine tuning, but the first attempt was pretty good!

Happy Friday, have a great weekend!

Weekend tid bits.

I've been having trouble with my photos, so haven't blogged in the last few days. So these photos are from last weekend, I was hoping to post them Sunday night, but late is better than never isn't it?

We had a brilliant night with friends last Friday at a local school Guy Fawkes Gala. Good food, game stalls, bouncy castles, close friends, blanket huddling and awesome fireworks always make for a great night out!

Home made fish and chips, fish courtesy of our wonderful Poppa is always a winner in this household.

I was allowed to play poker with the boys on Saturday night, my first game ever, they were good teachers, and I wiped out my husband - brilliant! I didn't win, but I came 3rd, I was stoked!

Pet shop visits always make my children happy, we could almost move into the pet shop with all the impromptu visits we have!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

McClaren's Lake at McClaren's Falls

Wairere Falls - This is a bit of a drive from where we live, but one of our favourite places, that isn't too far away!

Sweet victory.

Our loyal supporters with their 'haka' bears - they don't often let them go.

Exactly a week ago, almost our whole country, of 4 million, were watching the final in the Rugby World Cup. It was between our national team, the All Blacks, and France.
It was literally a nail biting game. Everybody was holding their breath until the ref blew his whistle at full time.

The victory was ours. By ONE point! (8-7)

The country was in celebration mode as soon as that whistle went. Everybody was excited, there were celebration parties and parades around the national centres.

Everyone is still grinning and so happy that our awesome team of 30 men had brought that World Cup home after 24 long years. And that sweet victory is ours for 4 years!

Those men and their coaches, and various other staff worked so hard to win that Cup. There were several heart breaking injuries throughout the tournament, but our men soldiered on, and brought the Cup home to their proud country.

CONGRATULATIONS to our awesome ALL BLACKS! You did it boys, you rock!

You can watch their spine tingling haka here

Weekend tid bits.

Easy reading, pancakes, my awesome rainbow cake and lasagne with salad, all part of a good Saturday!

It's nice to have a few distractions from this:

The oil spill from the ship, Rena, on our beautiful beach.

You can read more about it here: Rena disaster.

And one last thing:
